Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Collection Updated in 2021

Audemars Piguet has just released five new Royal Oak Offshore Self-Winding Chronographs, the first of the series, and I believe the best case size is 42mm. Earlier this year, The Associated Press released an updated version of the ROO Chronograph, featuring a 43mm case with a new in-house calibre 4401 and interchangeable straps. Now, we see these five new Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs get the same upgrades and improvements in a smaller 42mm case. Yes, that brings a total of 10 new Royal Oak Offshore Self-Winding Chronographs this year. While I'll be focusing on the brand new 42mm model here, I've also added information about the larger 43mm range. If it gets confusing, an easy way to tell the difference is to identify the horizontal (3,6,9) chronograph sub-dial on the 43mm and the vertical (6,9,12) sub-dial on the 42mm.
All five new 42mm ROO Chronos feature the new self-winding one-piece flyback chronograph Calibre 4404 movement, essentially the same as the Calibre 4401 in the 43mm model. The only difference between the two is that the 4401 has a horizontal (3,6,9) chronograph sub-dial layout, while the 4404 has a vertical (6,9,12) sub-dial layout that requires an additional plate in the movement. The 4404 is a An integrated column-wheel flyback chronograph with vertical clutch that runs at 28,800 vph and has a 70-hour power reserve.
Of the five new ROO replica watches for sale, two feature textured rubber straps with light blue or khaki dials, while the remaining three feature bracelets with stainless steel, titanium or rose gold cases.
Both strap models feature the Méga Tapisserie dial, the blue dial version with a titanium case and the khaki green version with a stainless steel case. The remaining three have more complicated Petite Tapisserie dials, and I have to say that the stainless steel model with the "night blue" dial is a fitting successor to the original Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph aka "The Beast". The titanium version features a grey dial, while the pure rose gold version features the same "night blue" dial as the stainless steel version.
The five Royal Oak Offshore Self-Winding Chronographs are all 42mm wide, 15.2mm thick and water resistant to 100 meters.
In case you missed news of the 43mm version, this year it's redesigned with a completely new case and minor improvements, such as a larger polished chamfer on the edge of the case and more curves on the bezel, as well as the chronograph pushers. Of the five 43mm versions released, three feature a stainless steel case with a ceramic bezel (dial colors are black, smoky light brown and grey), and one features an 18k rose gold case with a ceramic bezel and black dial , one with a black dial. Titanium, blue dial and titanium bezel. All feature Méga Tapisserie dials and interchangeable rubber straps.Jacob & Co Bugatti Chiron
That is, the Royal Oak Offshore Self-winding Chronograph released in 2021, and this is just a warm-up for AP. 2022 will be the 50th anniversary of the classic Royal Oak, so the revamp of the sporty Offshore range may just be the tip of the iceberg. The new Calibre 4401 and 4404 movements, refined cases and interchangeable straps make the Offshore Chronograph collection a significant improvement.
